New Threaded LineVu
Midstream operators are increasingly recognising a critical reality: hydrocarbon dewpoint and liquid carryover are different parameters, and meeting HCDP specification does not guarantee liquid-free gas in real pipelines. As this gap becomes explicit across processing, transmission and power-generation networks. Process Vision has introduced a threaded installation option for its LineVu pipeline camera system, significantly accelerating how operators can validate gas quality and detect liquid carryover in live systems.
Across multiple regions and applications, Process Vision continues to observe liquids flowing in pipelines while traditional measurements remain within specification. This disconnect, between inferred gas quality and observed pipeline behaviour, is now driving a shift in how operators approach assurance, moving from assumption to validation.
The new threaded LineVu configuration lowers the barrier to that validation.
Faster Access to Evidence Inside Live Pipelines
The threaded format installs directly into standard 1” or ¾” pipeline tapping points, enabling operators to gain immediate, real-time visibility of mist, stratified liquids, and transient liquid carryover events without interrupting flow or undertaking complex mechanical modifications.
Operators gain immediate, real-time visual evidence of mist, stratified liquids, and transient liquid carryover events under normal operating conditions. This capability is particularly valuable at locations where the consequences of unseen liquids are highest, including custody transfer points, compressor inlets, filtration systems, and fuel-gas supplies.
Purpose-built for Liquid Carryover Studies

The threaded installation option has been developed specifically to support Liquid Carryover Studies, evidence gathering exercises where operators need clear, defensible evidence of what is actually flowing inside live pipelines. These studies are increasingly used as a low-risk, high-value way to validate gas quality assumptions, particularly as traditional inferred measurements such as hydrocarbon dewpoint can mask real-world conditions.
By enabling rapid, temporary installation, the threaded LineVu configuration allows studies to be deployed quickly at critical locations including custody transfer points, compressor inlets, filtration systems, and fuel-gas supplies. Operators can observe real pipeline behaviour, correlate visual evidence with existing process data, and determine whether liquid carryover is present before it results in equipment damage, unplanned downtime, or commercial disputes.
“Liquid carryover studies are about validation, not blame,” said Paul Stockwell, Managing Director at Process Vision. “The threaded installation option makes it easier for operators to take a prudent, evidence-led step: observe first, understand the risk, and then decide what action, is required.”
Supporting an evidence-led approach to gas quality
Across multiple regions and applications, Process Vision continues to observe a consistent gap between inferred gas quality and actual pipeline behaviour. Liquids can be present even when traditional measurements remain within specification. LineVu addresses this challenge by providing direct visual confirmation, turning assumptions into observable facts.
When deployed as part of a Liquid Carryover Study, LineVu supports:
- Direct visual evidence of mist, stratified flow, and liquid events
- Rapid deployment via standard threaded tapping points
- Temporary or permanent installation aligned to operational needs
- ATEX and IECEx certification for hazardous areas
- Live video streaming and secure remote access, compatible with the LineVu analytics platform
From validation to standard practice
The introduction of the threaded installation option supports the growing use of Liquid Carryover Studies as operational due diligence. These studies are a safe, smart, and effortless way for operators to confirm conditions inside their own systems.
By lowering the barrier to installation and accelerating access to evidence, the threaded LineVu configuration supports a clear, evidence-led decision pathway:
- Discovery: Identify whether inferred gas quality reflects reality
- Validation: Use visual evidence to confirm or dismiss liquid carryover risk
- Action: Make informed decisions on mitigation, monitoring, or standardisation
This approach enables earlier engagement, reduces uncertainty, and helps organisations move from reactive responses to proactive assurance.
Expanding access to visual gas quality monitoring
The threaded LineVu is available now and can be deployed as part of short-term Liquid Carryover Studies or integrated into longer-term asset integrity and flow assurance programmes. The existing flanged LineVu configuration remains available for studies and permanent installations where required. If you cannot see it, you cannot manage it.
