Process Vision will come to Rio Pipeline 2025
Basingstoke, UK – 19 August 2025 – Process Vision will be participating at Rio Pipeline 2025, taking place from September 9–11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the company will showcase its latest technology in gas quality monitoring and Paul Stockwell, Managing Director of Process Vision will present a poster session titled: “Liquid Carryover – The Gap Between Theory and Reality”.
For decades, hydrocarbon dewpoint (HCDP) has been the industry’s benchmark for defining gas “dryness” in transmission and distribution. However, variability in HCDP calculation methods can result in discrepancies of up to 186°F (103.6°C) for a single gas mixture, leaving operators blind to liquid contamination in pipelines. Even trace amounts of mist or stratified natural gas liquids (NGLs) can cause equipment damage, unplanned outages, and costly operational disruptions.
Paul Stockwell, will present field evidence of undetected liquids in pipelines classified as “dry” and highlight how real-time process cameras provide operators with direct visibility inside high-pressure gas flows. By integrating live visual monitoring with dewpoint analysis, operators can better validate gas quality, mitigate risks, and protect downstream assets.
“Hydrocarbon dewpoint is an important metric, but it can only ever provide an inference,” said Paul Stockwell, Managing Director of Process Vision. “With this presentation we will be able to show that with LineVu we are helping operators truly see what is happening inside their pipelines and bridge the gap between theoretical gas quality and reality.”
Process Vision will be at stand F03, showcasing its innovative technologies to detect liquid carryover in pipelines:
- LineVu – a camera system that provides live, high-resolution video of gas flows, identifying mist, stratified flows, and liquids that standard analysis misses.
- Discovery – a portable study kit enabling short-term or long-term surveys, giving operators the ability to validate separator performance, identify contamination sources, and assess pipeline conditions before committing to permanent systems.
These systems are already delivering benefits across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, improving reliability, reducing costs, and safeguarding infrastructure.
Visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to meet Paul Stockwell, Managing Director, and Michael Downey, Business Development & Area Manager for Latin America, who will be on hand to discuss applications across Brazil and wider Latin America.
About Process Vision Process Vision, based in Basingstoke, UK, partners with engineers and managers in the energy industry to improve reliability and efficiency through innovative image-processing technology. Its systems detect and alert on liquids, hydrate, wax, and solid contamination in natural gas pipelines, providing expert guidance for prevention and removal. With real-time visibility and time-stamped video evidence, Process Vision is revealing contamination in reportedly “dry” gases, reducing the risk of equipment failure, maintenance costs, and unplanned outages.
